When you registered, you told us about a particular technology, project, service or idea you'd like to learn about, or which you'd like to present to fellow participants. Briefly, again, what was that?
I'm writing a series of novels based upon widely-overlooked current events and attended Netroots 2008 to network for volume 1, The Shadow Empire and research volume 2, We The People, in which my fictional journalist-protagonist, having been ejected from mainstream journalism, gets the word out. My third goal was to become more knowledgeable about web platforms and software to create my own site.
What resource, person, organization or company would you like to see participating in NewsTools2008 in order to spur the transformation of journalism?
Robert Parry of Consortiumnews.com
How do you define "journalism that matters," and please suggest ways for journalists and technologists to collaborate (structure, events, groups, processes) in ways mostly likely to sustain it.
My ideal would be a Village Soup in every town, linking to a Sunlight Foundation-type site so that the national impact of thousands of local issues could be collated, identified, and brought to public attention. If it already exists, please send me the URL
