What resource, person, organization or company would you like to see participating in NewsTools2008 in order to spur the transformation of journalism?
I wish to discover "friendly customers" (CNN, WorldSpace, RedCross, WHO, ...) who might give us 100,000 USD or more of work to mobilize correspondents.
How do you define "journalism that matters," and please suggest ways for journalists and technologists to collaborate (structure, events, groups, processes) in ways mostly likely to sustain it.
Can independent thinkers seize moral control over corporations? In 2008, independent peacemakers responded to avert genocide in Kenya whereas corporations did not, even though they have much greater resources. Negligent corporations should pay peacemakers at corporate rates for the work they did to embrace enemies. Indeed, the peacemakers might now scrutinize the companies worth caring about, for example, to bring corruption to light. Scrutiny makes a corporation's share price more accurate, and helps focus on long term fundamentals, thus the stock is a more useful instrument and attracts investments, lifting its price. Stakeholder's unions could seize moral control of corporations.

Andrius -- You're welcome. Please let me know if you have any corrections. I have one for my writeup: James Broughton is the correct spelling! I would also say, in the Bailey Boushay section, "..it made corporations comfortable giving to gay organizations."

Since Ning doesn't allow others to edit (but you can) -- I can't make these corrections. Thanks, Stephen

Hi Andrius,

Thank you for your comment! Your work sound wonderful...very relevant. I am curious to learn more about Minciu Sodas laboratory, it's history and how it currently operates. You mentioned that people are able to reach out to enemies...what kinds of dialogues take place between people across various divides? Look forward to meeting in person!

Great -- I look forward to our talk. I just got set up on Skype, so perhaps we can use it on Thursday or Friday? We'll have to figure out a time that works for both of us.
Your work looks very dynamic!

Wow, Andrius, you have a lot going on. Very prouctive.

Thank you for the invitation to your debate. But I can't participate. Most of the time that I'm not on the job I am spending on a class I am taking. JTM News Tools is just a few days after my final.

I'm looking forward to meeting you.
