One Laptop Per Child is providing low-cost laptops with built-in video cameras and micropones to schoolchildren around the world. We need tutorial materials on using the cameras to report from their communities. This could be a critical factor for the future of countries such as Haiti where political instability and violence are constant concerns. More than 10,000 XOs have been ordered for Haitian schoolchildren. There are projects on this scale or larger in ten countries, and smaller pilot projects in many others.
I volunteer as a Volunteer Coordinator with OLPC. I am also their localization (translation) administrator for Haitian Creole and Cambodian Khmer.
